From our at-home STD testing page, select the test you are interested in. At SelfCollect, we have a wide range of test suitable for men and women.

Not sure which test you need? The generalized male and female STD panels test for the most common sexually transmitted infections. The symptoms and risk factors for many STDs are quite similar. Ordering a generalized panel which can test for a wide range of conditions will give you the assurance of knowing that you have a thorough understanding of your intimate health.

Oral STD panels and anal STD panels are also available which similarly test for a wide range of common sexually transmitted infections.

One of our most frequently ordered tests is the SelfCollect at home HPV test kit. HPV, or human papillomavirus is currently the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. The CDC estimates that over 79 million Americans are infected with HPV. A majority of these individuals are in their late teens to early twenties.

In a majority of cases, HPV clears up on its own and does not lead to any lasting health problems. However, in some scenarios HPV can lead to genital warts or even cancer.

Our high-risk HPV test kit, suitable for men and women, offers highly accurate Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing which detects HPV-16, HPV-18, and 12 other high-risk HPV types. As high-risk HPV can be the cause of cervical cancer, it is highly recommended that test for HPV if you have any suspicion you have been exposed to the virus.

Other available STD testing kits include chlamydia/gonorrhea, herpes I & II, ureaplasma/mycoplasma, and trichomonas.

Once you have selected your test, if applicable choose whether you need a male or female kit. Kits differ by gender, so this is an important step! Next, proceed to the cart page to check out.

Understanding Your Test Results

Now that your test results are in, you are probably thinking about your next steps. First, it is important to note that a negative test does not mean that you are STD/STI free. There is an important period between exposure to an STD/STI but before symptoms arise during which a test result may come back negative. For this reason, you may which to repeat testing at regular intervals. Many healthcare professionals recommend monthly to annual testing depending on lifestyle and exposure.

It is possible, but quite rare, that test returns positive when an individual is in fact free of STD/STI free. Such occasions are well established in laboratory testing but occur infrequently. Repeated testing is the only valid remedy to false positive testing.

With a positive test, it’s often necessary to seek out the care of a qualified healthcare provider. Depending on the condition, you may want to visit a specialist. Women who have tested positive for high-risk HPV are advised to visit a gynecologist for a routine pap smear. Men who have tested positive for high-risk HPV are advised to seek out the care of a dermatologist or urologist who can treat potential skin lesions.

Indeterminate Test Results

For indeterminate test results, we will automatically ship out one new kit to repeat the collection process via USPS First Class Mail at no additional charge. You will be retested only for the diseases that showed indeterminate results.

SelfCollect only provides one free additional kit per order for retesting. If you again receive indeterminate results from the second collection, and symptoms are still present or you believe you may still have an infection, you should consider purchasing a new kit.
